The Broad Center is a nonprofit community center and an Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP) based in the heart of Brooklyn. We provide vital, no-cost services to New Yorkers facing some of life’s toughest challenges. At the core of our work is an unwavering commitment to those experiencing homelessness—individuals and families who are often forgotten or ignored by traditional systems of care. Many of the people we serve are unhoused or living in unstable housing and rely on The Broad Center as a consistent, safe, and supportive space.
We offer daily meals, emergency housing referrals, harm reduction tools, hygiene kits, clothing, educational workshops, and job readiness programs—all designed to help individuals reclaim dignity, build stability, and take the next step forward.
The Broad Center was born out of urgency and love—a grassroots effort to reach the people falling through the cracks of New York City’s social systems. Founded three years ago, we began by distributing hygiene kits and warm meals, quickly growing into a trusted anchor for individuals and families in crisis. Over time, our services expanded to include harm reduction outreach, creative workshops, mental health referrals, housing navigation, and more.
Today, we serve thousands of New Yorkers across all five boroughs and continue to grow through strategic partnerships and responsive programming. From our earliest days to now, our mission remains the same: to provide consistent, compassionate care to those too often overlooked.
Our mission is rooted in equity, dignity, and human connection. We are here for the individuals New York City too often leaves behind—those experiencing homelessness, addiction, food insecurity, and mental health struggles. At The Broad Center, we believe that access to support and opportunity is a human right. Every day, we work to restore hope, reduce suffering, and eliminate barriers to stability for those who need it most.
The Broad Center is proud to collaborate with a wide network of partners that help us fulfill our mission and expand our reach within the community. These partnerships strengthen our ability to provide holistic support and connect individuals to critical services across New York City.
